OUR FATHER'S FESTIVALTM !Feast of Sukkot / Tabernacles! The Sierra Prieta Mountains and Thumb Butte burst into view along Hwy 69 just past the Gateway Mall as one enters Prescott.
PRESCOTT and CAMP YAVAPINES
Prescott is a scenic mountain community located in central Arizona. People are drawn to its Midwestern cultural heritage and downtown–one of the Top Ten True Western Towns in the nation–together with being home of "The World's Oldest Rodeo" (TM). The City’s signature mountain landmark of Thumb Butte dominates the western skyline. The community boasts a nationally recognized historic and vibrant downtown (the “Jewel” of Arizona) with its beautiful 4.1 acre meticulously maintained Courthouse Plaza Park. On October 8, 2008, the American Planning Association honored the Plaza with the prestigious designation of being one of America's first 10 "Great Public Places" along with such iconic places as New York's Central Park and the Santa Monica Beach. (The Plaza is the venue of our Community OutReach). The Granite Dells, location of 1920s Hollywood movies, is one of the relatively few locations on earth were pre-Cambrian rocks (the oldest) rise above rhe ground surface and may be hiked, biked and canoed. The Grand Canyon, the famous red rocks of Sedona, The San Francisco Peaks at Flagstaff, and Phoenix are all about 2 hours away.
Prescott is nicknamed “Everybody’s Hometown” and is representative of the courage of volunteerism and patriotism that goes back to the days of President's Roosevelt's Roughriders. The Roughrider Statue on the Courthouse Plaza, one of the nation's foremost examples of equestrian sculpture, commemorates this "Cowboy Company" of Arizona's and Prescott's volunteers of the Spanish-American War. These cowboys gathered on this plaza before marching off in front of the entire community to the train station (now a historic building). Prescott is an old English word that means "priest's cottage", and was named after noted Historian William H. Prescott, who was described as “a good citizen, a true patriot, with industry, perseverance under difficulty, amiability of character and love of country" —fine qualities that we should all aspire to. |

WEATHER: Fall temperatures are typically in the 70s and nightly lows into the high 40s. One can expect blue skies with no or very little precipitation.
HEALTH: The mile-high city of Denver, Colorado generally has the same elevation as Prescott (5300 feet). Although Prescott is lower in elevation than many other similar mountain festival sites, those with serious heart or breathing difficulties may or may not experience health issues due to the elevation. It is always wise to first check with your physician if you have such a condition.

There are several types of accomodations: 1) Cabins, 2) Bunkbed cabins, 3) RV sites ( with full hook-ups), and 4) Tent sites.
Cabins
Camping is not your 'bag'? Then enjoy something more. The Camp offers a variety of cabin styles, some with small kitchens (above) some without (below)

Maybe a more rustic, knotty-pine flavored cabin appeals to your tastes. The Camp also offers them (above).
Bunk House Cabins
.

The basic bunkhouse cabin is just that-pretty basic. There are 4 (above left in the Alder Lodge), 6, and 8 bunkroom cabins that are heated & have electrical outlets if you wish to bring your coffee-maker or cook on your hot plate. The Alder Lodge (upper right) is a motel-type building bunkhouse. Bring your own sleeping gear!

Bunkhouse cabins come in a motel-type building type arrangement or in smaller duplex-type buildings, such as the 'The Oaks' - the green building on the right in the above center photo. Restroom and shower facilites are located close-by (tan building on the left)
Tent Sites

Pick your favorite tent site among the pines! There are many to choose from. We will locate as many as who wish to locate their tents near the Dome. Bring your coffee maker if you wish-or hot plate! The Camp has allowed us to use a limited number of electrical outlets from adjoining bunkhouse cabins to make cooking easier
